Suns Shining Brightest

Going into the NBA bubble everyone had all but counted out the Phoenix Suns. Many even questioned why they were invited into the bubble in the first place. But as of this writing, the Phoenix Suns have a league best 5-0 record in the bubble. They are led by All Star guard Devin Booker who’s been putting on a show thus far during the restart and capped it off with a game winner against the Clippers over both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. The Suns also have ultra talented big man Deandre Ayton who’s been putting up solid numbers as well. Booker and Ayton have also gotten help from Ricky Rubio, Kelly Oubre Jr., Mikal Bridges, Dario Saric, Jevon Carter, and Cameron Johnson. The Suns are on the cusp of making the Playoffs and this is a place where almost nobody thought they would be.

The Suns’ next two games are against teams that they could beat in the form of the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Philadelphia 76ers. After that they’ll have their hands full with the Dallas Mavericks. The Suns have been on an absolute tear. Last night August 8th, 2020, the Suns beat the Miami Heat 119-112. The aforementioned Devin Booker lead his team with 35. Prior to blowing up in the bubble, the Suns had the 2nd worst record of all 22 teams invited to come and play. The Suns have proven the naysayers wrong and have shown that they very much do belong to be in the bubble. The Suns have beaten The Clippers, Pacers, Mavericks, and Heat; all of whom are playoff teams. From the look of things it’s shaping up to be a battle between the Suns and the Portland Trailblazers for the 8th and final playoff spot as the Memphis Grizzlies are falling quickly. How long will this Suns team shine? Well that remains to be seen but one thing’s for sure, the future in Phoenix is very bright, and a lot of teams are going to get sunburned.
